Today’s snippet comes from the opening scene in my current #WIP, which is a sequel of sorts to my free read, The Glass Ornament. In this new short story, we will meet Daniel and Ford almost three years later.
I haven’t re-introduced Ford yet. This exchange is between Daniel and his shipmate, MR2 Donahue. Enjoy!
He shook his head in disbelief and continued working on the engraving. Donahue might be a man, but Daniel had standards too.
“Come on. I’m ready to get lei’d. Get it? Lei’d, like laid.”
“You know, if you have to explain it isn’t funny,” he said, smirking at his friend’s antics. Donahue had given him the shop’s tour when Daniel arrived at the USS Natividad and hadn’t flinched when he mentioned being married to a man. That, right there, had cemented their friendship.

Someone needs to tell him that pun’s about as old as Hawaii. Fun snippet.
Sounds interesting! 😀
Nice snippet. Made me smile
These two are cute.
I’ll admit to never having heard that joke so I laughed.
Funny pun! I find it funny when people have to explain their jokes.
ROFL! “You know, if you have to explain it isn’t funny.” Yep. 😀
Such lovely rapport between these two, just in six lines. 🙂
Love the banter and like these two and their friendship already.
Fun snippet!
