“Wake up, love. Wake, up.”
“Hey,” a sleepy Laurie responded. “What time is it?”
“Three in the morning, but you were giggling in your sleep. And then, you started laughing and crying.”
“Oh, God, yes!”
“See, just like that,” Steven said, gesturing towards his fiancé.
“I’m sorry, babe. I know you have to be at work in a couple of hours. I think it was all that talk about walking down the aisle we had today.”
“You know, we have eight months to plan the whole thing. Right?”
“I know, I know, but in my dream…” Laurie laughed again before continuing, “I asked your mom if I should carry a rose and then give it to you when I met you down the aisle. She looked at me like I was crazy and walked me to a vessel at the end of a narrow pier.”
“Are we getting married at a lake then?”
“I don’t know, but the vessel had a huge tree in the middle with a small window in the trunk. She put several paper boats in the water and released some birds before standing on the prow.”
“I think we should elope,” Steven said before kissing Laurie.
