This month moved faster than ever. We are now officially enjoying the first days of Fall. Well, at least in the US, and a new writing cycle is about to start for me.
“I’ll get a ticket, man. How much?” Donahue asked, breaking the awkward silence.
“Just one dollar for one ticket and ten dollars for twelve.”
“Give me twelve. I might get lucky and can escape without having to connect the power lines when we hit port.”
“Oh. That’s a good reason. I should use it to sell more tickets down at Engineering,” the junior sailor said.
“See, MR2 Donahue saving the day again.” Donahue pulled at his shirt in a bragging move, and they all laughed.
Just like his sister, dad, and granddaddy before him, Daniel Matthews married his high school sweetheart and joined the Navy. That he had the choice to marry a man after the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was a slight difference. Being apart from his husband more often than not might be a given, but winning the First Kiss raffle was a prank gone right.
