#RAINBOWSNIPPETS *~* SEPTEMBER 24-25, 2016 *~*

This month moved faster than ever. We are now officially enjoying the first days of Fall. Well, at least in the US, and a new writing cycle is about to start for me.

Today’s snippet continues just after last week’s scene.  Raffled Kiss is now available as part of the Dreamspinner Press Anthology One Pulse. Enjoy!

“I’ll get a ticket, man. How much?” Donahue asked, breaking the awkward silence.

“Just one dollar for one ticket and ten dollars for twelve.”

“Give me twelve. I might get lucky and can escape without having to connect the power lines when we hit port.”

“Oh. That’s a good reason. I should use it to sell more tickets down at Engineering,” the junior sailor said.

“See, MR2 Donahue saving the day again.” Donahue pulled at his shirt in a bragging move, and they all laughed.

Just like his sister, dad, and granddaddy before him, Daniel Matthews married his high school sweetheart and joined the Navy. That he had the choice to marry a man after the repeal of Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was a slight difference. Being apart from his husband more often than not might be a given, but winning the First Kiss raffle was a prank gone right.

Since they met during freshman year, Ford Jennings knew his future husband’s dreams—to join the military and serve his country. Waiting pier side with a cameraman capturing his every move might be a requirement, but the chance to show others that love triumphs over any obstacle is an opportunity of a lifetime.

“Hey, guys!” someone called from the door, and they all turned. “If you all aren’t too busy, I’m selling tickets for the First Kiss raffle,” a junior sailor added.

As if no one had talked, Jones continued to the regulation couch by the grinder, and Walters grabbed a magazine before standing beside Daniel. The sailor looked over expectantly, but no one acknowledged him.

“Come on, guys. It’s tradition, you know? The sailor and the nurse kissing in Time Square? End of World War II? All the romance and shit? Plus, we get more money for the Christmas party.”

#RAINBOWSNIPPETS *~* JULY 30-31, 2016 *~*

I know I said last week’s snippet was going to be the last one from Raffled Kiss, but I got my first round of edits from DSP overnight and had to share. I promise to move to a different story next week.

He tried to hide his happiness, but a flustered Ford was a sight to behold. If only he could see it. It was moments like this when he hated the distance between them. He craved his husband by his side. This had been the longest separation since they’d met at age fourteen. Not even the eight weeks of boot camp, followed by A School, prepared them for the almost eight months without each other.

* Today’s snippet is part of a call between Ford & Daniel that took place before last week’s scene, just in case you were wondering.
