Blinds
The late afternoon light shadowing my office worked to my advantage. I brought the blinds down further before setting all the papers I’d need to show Mr. Penfield. Yes, he was right. His wife had cheated on him, but she looked so happy I feel bad for ruining it for her.
I pulled a bottle of scotch out of my cabinet and poured two fingers. I leaned back in my chair, enjoying the swirl of liquid hitting the glass. Adjusting my framed picture, I called for Mr. Penfield to be let in.
“Ready for a man’s job, Elena?” I snorted.
